Abstract

Islamic education has one of the important roles in the growth of education in Indonesia. In today's era that is increasingly advanced and technology is increasing rapidly, of course, it faces increasingly bigger challenges. However, not only challenges exist but there are opportunities that can be used well. This research aims to analyze related to the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to be able to help the transformation process of Islamic education, and be able to help Islamic education overcome existing challenges so that it can advance Islamic education by taking advantage of existing opportunities. Therefore, this research will only focus on the challenges and opportunities in the transformation process in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). This research uses a qualitative method. This data collection technique is carried out by library research, and data sources obtained from various literature such as books, scientific journals, and relevant articles. The results of the analysis show that the opportunity with artificial intelligence (AI) helps Islamic educational institutions to facilitate the teaching and learning process, optimize the existing administrative process, and help provide content that is based on the needs of students and of course relevant to Islamic principles. While the challenge faced by Islamic educational institutions is the development of sensitive algorithms, must continue to use validation from experts, it turns out that AI is able to pose a risk of reduced interaction between humans, and reduced skills possessed, and affects the character that is able to increase the challenge in teaching Islamic values. With this research, it is hoped that it can be the foundation and data booster for the next researcher in studying relevant problems.
